Season of Giving 2019

We’re nearing the end of our 40th year, and we continue to be proud to serve our communities both by providing the life-saving skill of swimming lessons and extending our reach with drives, fundraisers, and donations.

We are incredibly thankful for our customers who make the commitment to reinforce their children’s safety and well-being by incorporating weekly swimming lessons into their routine. Our free lessons for infants under 6 months old continues to be a popular program - more than 6,100 babies have been introduced to the benefits of swimming. We also gave away more than 18,000 Splash & Dash (drop-in) lessons to students of all ages! (Remember, each student gets two free Splash & Dash lessons per quarter.)

Our scholarship program provides full and partial tuition to families in need. In 2019, we awarded 246 scholarships to families company-wide. We also contributed 142 donations to various organizations for their fundraisers, to the tune of $14,200.

Each of our four locations also provides direct support to organizations in their immediate communities:

In Half Moon Bay, year-round donations and collections are made for Coastside Hope’s Diaper Drive and the new HMB Aquatic Center. They also provided seasonal donations to the Senior Coastsiders and a holiday Adopt-a-Family.

San Bruno supports the Catholic Worker Hospitality House, Coats for Kids, Toys for Tots, and the SPCA. They also sponsor an AYSO soccer team.

San Francisco organized a very successful Halloween Costume drive for Compass Family Services and also supported Project Night Night, Casa De Las Madres, and the Help A Mother Out Diaper Drive.

Redwood City also participated in the Halloween costume drive, made a donation to Cora, and sponsored a Little League team.

In late-April, a small group from LPB made its 5th annual trip to Roatan, a poverty-stricken island in Honduras. We delivered clothes, donated money towards new computers for their schools, and spent the week teaching children how to swim. This is always a humbling experience for our LPB Pod, and reminds us how fortunate many of us truly are.

In September (Childhood Cancer Awareness Month), all schools participated in our annual Go For The Gold fundraiser, which raises money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This year we collectively raised $1488.34, which will go towards supplies for children battling cancer.

In October, we held our very first Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser. We matched the donations that were collected onsite, and together we were able to raise $338.20 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Throughout the year we supported several other organizations and community events. Here are some of the organizations that we proudly support:
