Whalecome to 2020!

Hello and Whalecome to 2020!

We hope all of our swim families enjoyed some time away from the pool during our winter break. We are happy to be back in the swim of things and hope you are too! Did you travel? If you did, and you have a picture of your little swimmers in their LPB gear, post it to Instagram and tag us: @lapetitebaleen. Not on social media? Email wanderingwhale@swimlpb.com and we’ll be sure to feature it on our Wandering Whale board at your swim location.

As you return to our facilities this month, you may notice some updates and changes. All four of our schools got a deep cleaning, including the tent top over the viewing room in San Francisco and the decks and viewing room floors in San Bruno, San Francisco, and Half Moon Bay. Our Redwood City building had heaters installed in the upstairs staff areas and some other cosmetic improvements.

We also took advantage of the closure by having members of our staff complete lifeguard training. Staff who work as Deck Supports or Directors on Duty are all required to maintain current lifeguard certification. We want to ensure the safest experience possible for you and your family.

To that end, we have some exciting plans for 2020, including renewing our participation in the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson and hosting our very own water safety event in the spring.

As we work to improve our digital presence, you’ll soon see a new website, an improved Parent Portal, and even more content on display on our viewing room monitors. We’ll have some improvements to our curriculum handouts and a fresh new look for our achievement awards this spring too.

Of course, the biggest event of 2020 is the Summer Olympics in Tokyo. We always get excited when it’s time for swimming, diving, water polo, and those amazing synchronized swim performances. We’ll be all-in with Olympic-level fun, so be on the lookout for activities, photo ops and other excitement.
