Read MoreLa Petite Baleen is passionate about water safety and drowning prevention. Drowning is the leading cause of unintentional injury deaths for children ages 1–4 and the second leading cause of unintentional injury deaths for children 1–14 years of age. Formal swim lessons reduces the risk of drowning by 88%. (CDC)
Every May, LPB kicks off the summer season by teaching students in our AQUATIC CLASSROOMSM ways to keep themselves safe in and around water during the vacations and adventures that typically happen during the summer months. Often this is the time when families travel and find themselves with opportunities to swim in places besides our pools. This can include house or hotel pools and hot tubs, rivers, lakes, oceans, and so on. Each one of these swimming areas has its own set of risks that must be addressed to ensure the safety of the kids.
La Petite Baleen encourages all adults and older children to learn CPR. To learn more about CPR, please visit the American Red Cross for more information, tips, and helpful videos regarding First Aid and CPR.
